1996 BMW E34 525i (SOLD)

A very late, low mileage, unmolested facelift example.

These late-525i cars are regarded by many the best BMW 5-Series ever made in terms of build quality.

The late 525i with the multivalve M50 engine is regarded as possibly the most sought-after in terms of striking a balance between smooth and powerful performance, styling, safety, running costs and serviceability (Please see Andrew Everett's book!).

They really are truly great cars.

One of the last having been built in October 1995 (Production ceased December 1995) and not registered until May 1996!

Low mileage - 76293 miles

I first sold this car approx 6 years ago (Please see photos and read the previous details: Please Click Here ).

During those 6 years years it had been used very sparingly by the gentleman I sold it to and covered a mere 8K miles. He was the first enquirer for the car, bought it unseen and was delighted with it.

This was a car that I could have sold many, many times over at the time such were the numbers of enquiries that I had back then and continued to have long after it was sold and marked as such on my website!

Having spotted it for sale again at a dealer in the Midlands and knowing what an outstanding example it had been I immediately bought it back unseen!

Since buying the car back I have spent consierable time, effort and money over a period of 6 months bringing the car back to a standard which I believe now exceeds what it was 6 years ago.

The car had literally just been Oil Serviced by the dealer when I bought it (stamped) but had not been formally serviced in the preceding 8K miles by the chap I had sold it to. Therefore, I again undertook an immediate further full Inspec II level service myself just to be sure to include:

    1) Engine flush, Oil Filter and Oil 2) Spark Plugs 3) Air Filter 4) Coolant 5) Microfilter 6) Rear brake pads

Additionally, I had the following done by my BMW Specialist:

    1) Full Air-conditioning Service - so blows ice-cold 2) Brake Fluid change 3) New Poly-belt

I have also replaced the somewhat ugly and inappropriate looking Kenwood Radio/CD player with a more appropriate CD43 Radio/CD Head unit (not cheap!).

The car came back to me with several stone-chips and scratches to the front end. Therefore, I have had the bonnet and both front wings resprayed...at significant cost! At the same time, I had the bodyshop replace the door-handle gaskets with new as these have tended to crack on with age on E34s now and look unsightly. The front and rear BMW roundels have been replaced.

It also came back with only the rather ugly non-original alloys (although the winter tyres on them still have masses of tread).

Therefore, I managed to source a set of the correct original alloys. The correct rear Dunlop tyres are new; the fronts have approx 6mm tread (new tyres have 8mm) and the spare is also still usused! I have replaced all of the wheel roundels. It will also come with the extra non-standard wheels with winter tyres thrown in as well!

The interior is effectively in pristine condition with no signs of wear, tear, snags etc....even on the driver's seat! I would defy anyone to show me a leather interior on a near 20 year old car (and all E34s will now be older) that looks anything like the interior of this car.

I mentioned in the advert for the car 6 years ago that there was a small, barely visible hole on the side of the rear seat base. However, I have sourced and replaced the rear seat base with a pristine replacement!

All the tools, jack and first-aid kit are still present and as new.

All Handbooks, Service History and leather folder are present as are all the old MOTs.

The V5 is in my name again and registered to my address.

(Please note: I have only one key and alarm fob for the car now. The previous owner had a new alarm fitted. I am still in contact with him and he informs me that he thinks the extras are in his house somewhere but as yet he hasn't found them but is still looking. But extras should be readily available if required).

It will come with a new MOT.

    SUMMARY

One of the last built and U.K registered E34 Saloons. Highly desirable model. Low mileage. In outstanding condition, fully serviced and drives beautifully.

    Price: £4750 (firm)
