HISTORY
The car was original purchased in July 1999 by an elderly couple who lived in Wimbledon in July 1999. The accompanying original bill of sale shows a cost of £28,441. This I have calculated translates to over £42,000 as of 2010's money. So a very expensive car!
The car still has its original 'Geyfords' number plates and rear window sticker.
From accomanying correspondence I calculate that the husband was already 78 years old when they bought the car. They would spend several months of the year abroad and instruct their MB Maindealer to service, wash and fuel the car whilst they were away each time ready for their return.
Again from correspondence, it appears the husband passed away whilst they were abroad at the age of 86 and ownership was taken on by his wife.
The car was (despite its low mileage) maintained to the highest degree regardless of cost! Even at only circa 9K miles it had already run out of space in the service booklet for more stamps and the subsequent services are all there in detailed receipts from the MB Dealership in Mitcham.
The service history is incredible! As can be seen the car was serviced by MB for the most part with only a few hundred miles between Main-dealer services1 Please see below:
All services are MB Maindealer except the last one which was done by the chap I bought the car from at a MB Club recommended Mercedes Specialist (in the MB Club Gazette) in Darlington. This also included renewal of the polybelt plus waxoyling the wheel-arches etc as a pre-caution.
ENGINE and DRIVE-TRAIN
Drives like a new car!
Silky yet lively V6 engine. Smooth geabox. Perfect steering, suspension and brakes.
The engine bay is super clean and even has the original green grease in the bonnet catch!
BODY AND PAINTWORK
All straight with no dents, major scratches or dinks.
There is some evidence of paintwork having been done to the vertical drop of the bootlid and both rear wing areas. Presumably this was done for scratches ( a London car!?) as there are none on the car!
Additionally, the plastic chrome trim on the top of the front bumper n/s has a small crack. I have bought a new one from my MB Maindealer (not fitted).
I have spent a timed 30 hours machine detailing the paintwork!
All of the glass is clear, scratch free and as new.
The headlamps are all clear, chip free and as new.
INTERIOR
Like new!
There is no wear whatsoever (underlined) on any of the seats or trim. All of the dash, steering-wheel, gear-knob and trim retain their original unworn, matt finish and textures.
The carpets have been covered from new by the original MB velour overmats; on top of which have been original MB rubber overmats. The elderly owner even fashioned a rubber overmat to go over the rear transmission tunnel even though the rear of the car looks like it was never used!
WHEELS AND TYRES
Alloy wheels just fully and properly refurbished by 1st Class Alloys plus very recent set of matching Pirelli P6000 tyres (the old tyres still had lots of tread but were showing age related cracking). Unused spare.
ANCILLARIES
All tools, jack, first-aid kit unused.
All Handbooks and 4 keys are present. The valet key is still sealed in its unopened cellophane packet!
